Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has said sorry to the fanbase for his conduct when replaced in the recent heated El Clasico victory.

Vinicius was replaced in the second half and expressed his frustration by heading directly off the pitch.

The Brazilian later returned to the sidelines and, after his team's 2-1 victory, sought to engage Barcelona's Lamine Yamal during contentious post-match incidents.

"This day I want to say sorry to all the supporters for my reaction when I was replaced in the derby," he posted on social media.

"Just as I have previously expressed during this morning's session, I also want to say sorry once more to my teammates, the team, and the club president.

"Sometimes passion gets the better of me because I continuously aim to win and support my team. My winning mentality stems from the passion I hold for this institution and all it represents."

He signed for Madrid from Brazil in recent years for millions and has scored over a century of strikes in more than 300 games.

But his prospects in the Madrid is uncertain with reports in recent months suggesting that the club would think about letting the young star move on if they obtained a suitable offer.

When Vinicius was replaced on Sunday, TV coverage from coverage provider the platform recorded him remarking: "It's always me! I'm departing the side! It's better if I depart, I'm leaving."

In his new message on social media, he commented: "I commit to keep striving constantly for the good of the club, as I have performed since the very beginning."
